UNDP Belarus Accelerator Lab

Working to support innovative development, the green economy, Chernobyl recovering areas, smart solutions and gender-balanced economic growth.

The UNDP Belarus Accelerator Lab is part of the second cohort of 32 Accelerator Labs that started operation in 2020, and was officially launched on March 4, 2021. We are advancing progress on two challenges: activation of an ecosystem for innovations in crisis and post-crisis environments, and introducing solutions for adaptation to climate change and support for vulnerable groups.

The Lab has applied in-depth interviews to support the startup infrastructure in selection and promotion of digital solutions, used collective intelligence to support the development of Chernobyl recovering areas, applied a human-centered approach to explore problematic areas, prototyped and tested smart solutions for urban transformation in the region, applied the system-mapping methodology in formulation of a strategic view on the green economy, and introduced the Global Green Economy Index on a country level. The Lab used ethnographic methodologies and behavioral insights for attracting girls to STEM education and future professions.

The Lab is bringing new key national stakeholders outside UNDP for joint efforts in exploration and testing of new solutions on a variety of topics.
