UNDP Saudi Arabia Accelerator Lab
We are working to support the innovation ecosystem in Saudi Arabia by designing experiments and scaling up local solutions to help reimagine development.
The UNDP Saudi Arabia Accelerator Lab was launched in November 2021 joining a network of 91 labs globally. We aspire to redefine development and bring positive change to our community by listening to and learning from local innovators, exploring diverse data sources, and designing experiments to acquire empirical evidence, helping to pave the way to greater impact.
We explore future pathways that are scalable and sustainable in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision2030, by applying community mapping which determines key stakeholders and supports informative data collection. We use behavioral insights to understand key drivers and the causality around a variety of local priorities in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. We use co-creation and participatory design to find innovative solutions. We intend to prototype and experiment to demonstrate dynamism in the challenges we are tackling. For instance, we have begun to further analyze a range of topics including promoting responsible consumption and production such as food waste and recycling, enabling sustainable urban and housing transformation, enhancing economic diversification and digital transformation, highlighting and mainstreaming gender, and encouraging active involvement of community-based organizations focusing on youth empowerment.
Aligning the Kingdom’s ambitious agenda with the global development challenges can only be successfully done through local partnerships with which we hope you will be a part.
We would like to thank our partners for their collaborative work with the UNDP Accelerator Labs. Building and strengthening alliances is the core of UNDP and the Accelerator Labs’ model. Please reach out if you are interested in partnering with us, we would love to hear from you.
